Trees of Life
Part 4 of 4
I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, And as a garden causes the things sown in it to spring up, So the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise To spring up before all the nations. Isaiah 61:10,11 NASB
We rejoice and are full of joy because God has clothed us in salvation and righteousness. Like the father of the prodigal son who threw a party to celebrate his son’s return God’s joy at our deliverance is evident. There is celebration because His children have been reconnected to Him. He has brought us into His royal family as priest and kings of our God. (1 Peter 2:9) The CJB version says “He has clothed me in salvation and dressed me in robes of triumph”. The redemption that God provides not only saves us but provides abundant victorious life of purpose. Verse 11 indicates the purpose of our lives is to be like fruitful gardens that produce a harvest righteousness and praise in all the nations.
If praise and righteousness are the harvest, then what are the seeds that will produce this harvest? Hebrews 13:15 says that praise is the fruit of lips that openly confess his names. When we live a life of declaring the goodness of our God it produces a harvest of praise. James 3:18 NLT says … peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness. The word peace there means wholeness and is exactly what verses 1 and 2 say that Jesus came to bring. When the fullness of salvation we receive is manifest in and through our lives it plants the seeds of peace and righteousness in the lives of others. Romans 14:17 tells us the Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. God’s righteousness brings wholeness or the fullness of salvation to us. Then we become oaks of righteousness who also facilitate wholeness and salvation in others so that individuals, families, cities in all the nations will glorify and praise God. In this way God’s kingdom will come and His will be done one earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:10)
Father, we praise you for your goodness. We rejoice with you that we have been restored back into your family and made whole by Jesus sacrifice. Let the fullness of salvation and all that Jesus came to provide bring wholeness and peace to our lives. May our lives be fruitful gardens. Teach us to plant seeds of peace and wholeness that bear fruit and leaves that will feed and heal individuals and families and ultimately produce a harvest of righteousness and praise in all the nations. In Jesus Name, Amen.
